When you are connected with LAN cable and when you boot your system then one IP address is assigned from a pool of available addresses from your ISP. But when you share your IP address with other device like mobile using tethering, then your machine act as a router and it will assigned a different IP address to mobile connected to it.
This new IP address is a private IP address which is known only to your mobile and machine (laptop). Operating System in laptop also has some routing mechanism to route request and response to your connected device like mobile phone.

Here whatever you browse through laptop or mobile, both are known to be the IP address of your laptop.
This same scenario happen when you connect your laptop with your mobile phone and you are using data pack of mobile and using internet in your laptop through tethering.

If you are sharing the data through hotspot, the ip address assigned to client(hotsport user) they will gernerlly assigned the IP Address different from the hotspot client, In case of hotspot it uses DHCP to assign IP address
