While most people have realised the huge benefits that exfoliating their face has, a lot of people have yet to discover the benefits of a regular body scrub. If you want to have beautiful skin all over your body, then a body scrub is the best way to keep your skin soft and smooth. You can buy lots of different kinds of luxurious body scrubs in the stores, but why bother, when you have these ten amazing DIY natural body scrub recipes to hand?
1. Olive oil and sugar
Let’s start off with one of the really simple natural body scrub recipes. With many homemade body scrubs, you will probably find that you already have all the ingredients that you need in your kitchen and this old favourite is one of those. A simple mixture of olive oil and sugar will remove the dead skin cells from your skin and moisturise and soften the skin at the same time. If you want to have a little bit of fragrance as well with your body scrub, just add a few drops of your favourite essential oil, like lavender or orange one.
2. Lemon and sugar
This is a great natural body scrub recipe for treating dry and rough skin and the lemon juice in this one will lighten skin as well. Moisten your skin before you use the scrub and then gently massage the mixture all over your body before you take a shower. Moisturise after your shower and you will be left with soft and glowing skin.
Ingredients:
. 3 tablespoons of sugar
. 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice
. 5 tablespoons sweet almond oil
3. Lavender and sea salt
Lavender and sea salt combine beautifully to provide a wonderful relaxing body scrub that will ease away the stresses and strains of the day and rejuvenate the skin. The sea salt will not only exfoliate your skin, it also contains a whole range of minerals that will nourish your skin as well. To prepare this DIY natural body scrub, mix 7 tablespoons of sweet almond oil with 4 drops of lavender essential oil and then stir in 4 tablespoons of coarse sea salt.
4. Lemon and honey
Honey is a natural moisturiser, so this 100% natural body scrub recipe will help lock in moisture to your skin while you are removing the dead skin cells. This is another recipe with lemon juice in, so it will lighten your skin too. Just mix the ingredients together and you’re ready to go.
Ingredients:
. 3 tablespoons raw honey
. 2 tablespoons sugar
. 3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
5. Coffee grounds and olive oil
Coffee grounds are good for exfoliating, tightening up the skin, and they will fight cellulite too. With the added coconut oil in this recipe, this scrub smells wonderful and it moisturises as well. Here is this simple, amazing, natural body scrub recipe: mix 2 tablespoons of olive oil with 3 tablespoons of coconut oil and then add equal parts of ground coffee and granulated sugar.
6. Oatmeal and Brown Sugar
Oatmeal is a good alternative for coffee grounds in body scrubs if you have sensitive skin, because it exfoliates and it soothes the skin as well. Oatmeal also has anti-inflammatory properties, so it will soothe any redness on the skin. Just mix equal amounts of finely milled oatmeal and brown sugar, add coconut oil to reach the consistency that you want and, voila, ready! If you have very sensitive skin, this natural body scrub recipe will work just as well for you without the sugar. We will warn you, though, oatmeal can make quite a mess in the bottom of your shower!
Ingredients:
. ½ cup ground oatmeal
. ½ cup brown sugar (unless you have very sensitive skin)
. ¼ cup coconut oil or olive oil
7. Coconut oil and ginger
The ginger in this DIY body scrub recipe will fight inflammation and help the body detox, so this one is a nice soothing and healing body scrub. We’ve added jojoba oil and coconut oil as well, for some deep down hydration.
The ingredients for this one are:
. 3 tablespoons coconut oil
. 1 tablespoon jojoba oil
. 3 tablespoons sugar
. 1 tablespoon chopped ginger.
8. Banana and brown sugar
This is a natural body scrub that smells good enough to eat and, if you are prone to oily skin, then the banana in this recipe will help to control that. We have used sugar in this recipe, but if you have very sensitive skin, you might want to swap the sugar for ground oatmeal.
Ingredients:
. 1 mashed ripe banana
. 2 tablespoons brown sugar
. ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract

Peppermint is the perfect ingredient for when you need to refresh your senses and feel fully awake. To make this refreshing natural body scrub, make a paste with and 5 tablespoons sweet almond oil and 3 tablespoons sugar and then mix in a few drops of peppermint essential oil.
10. Shea butter and sugar
We finish up with a super moisturising and nourishing body scrub that contains shea butter and coconut oil. This one takes a little but more perpetration time than the rest, but it’s worth it!
