Alcatel 5V unveiled with a Notched Screen and Dual Rear Camera

The Alcatel 5V has been introduced by TCL with a notched screen, the device is the newest flagship smartphone from Alcatel. According to Alcatel, the screen got all the way to an 88% screen-to-body ratio.

Internally, it’s powered by the new Helio P22 chip from MediaTek promising improved performance and better battery efficiency. There’s also 3GB of RAM and 32GB storage space, dual rear camera with support for Google Lens. Lets meet the Alcatel 5V.

Design

This smartphone will definitely get people’s attention when you are out and about. It has a Plastic-like overall unibody with a glossy finish, the sides and edges are curved as well, this will offer a perfect grip when held.



If you’re not into Face ID, the device sports a rear fingerprint scanner for fast and quick access as well. Turning to the sides, it measures 8.5mm in thickness and weighs 158g overall. It’s available in Grey and Blue colors.

Display

It comes with the trending notched screen which displays in 19:9 ratio. Alcatel calls it the Infinite Full View display and we can see why. It ensures a much taller and wider display taking up small space.

          

The tall 6.2inch HD+ IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen has 1500 x 720 pixels in resolution and 282 pixel per inch density for sharp visuals as well. It stretches up to 88% screen to body ratio with a 2.5D dragontrail glass on top.

Hardware and Software

Running the race is the new chipset from MediaTek, the Helio P22 which comes with its 12nm process technology. It has an octa-core processor as well clocking at 2.0GHz. 

While the PowerVR GE8320 graphics card runs at 650MHz.

For multitasking, you get up to 3GB RAM space to handle all your apps and files. It has a fast memory speed of 1.8GHz as well. Furthermore, it has 32GB storage space which you can expand up to 128GB. It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box.

Camera
The dual 12MP + 2MP rear shooters are AI-powered, the cameras have f/2.2 aperture, 5P lens, 1/2.8 sensor size, 1.25μm pixel size and f/2.4 aperture, 1/5 sensor size, 1.75μm pixel size respectively.

Features on the cameras include AI Scene detection, burst shot, EIS, real-time bokeh, HDR, light trace, night mode, panorama, PDAF, real-time filters and refocus. While the 8MP selfie camera has f/2.8 aperture, 1/4” sensor size, 1.12μm pixel size and Face beautification.

Battery

Powering the Alcatel 5V is a 4000mAh non-removable Li-Ion battery with fast charging technology. With the fast charging feature, charging the battery from 0% to 100% shouldn’t take up to 1.8 hours.
